Investigating Properties of Water

This week the children have been conducting investigations with water.  Learning about the properties of water, how water behaves on different surfaces and on different slopes were part of our investigations. They are really enjoying these explorations and behaving like curious little scientists.  Next in our studies is surface tension and the water cycle.

Dictionary Skills: Guide Words

We are practicing the proper use of guide words when using a dictionary. This is an important lesson for the children and one that can be practiced at home as well. The following links offer helpful games to practice this dictionary skill.

Museum of Maps!

The children have done a wonderful job with their Massachusetts maps! They are enjoying viewing each other's maps and writing positive comments for each other. Great job, 3B! Our next step in our geography studies is to learn the states and capitals of New England. More to follow soon...

Telling Time

We are learning about telling time in 3B. Please take any opportunities you have at home (or in the car, etc.) to practice telling time with your child. We are practicing telling time using the following standards: quarter past, quarter to, half past, counting by five minutes and telling time to the minute. There is a nice link on the blog below called "Stop the Clock" that practices analog time. Thanks, as always, for your support!

The children were captivated by the enrichment program yesterday, titled "Weather, Wind and Water." This program was conducted by the Museum of Science and sponsored by the PTO. Thank you for a great experience!

Massachusetts Map Sample

This is a sample of a Massachusetts map from a former student.  Not every map has to be done the same way, but this will give you an idea of a job well done!
